THE NIKE x SKIMS COLLAB IS SMART AS SH*T!!
February 26th, 2025
February 26th, 2025
The Nike x Skims collab is breaking the internet and has increased Nike’s Marketshare by 6% — but let’s talk about what’s really behind it.
✅ Two major cultural forces joining up? No surprise there.
🚨 But when it comes to ethics, sustainability, and labor practices, are they truly walking the talk?
Would this collab be sustainable? We sure hope so. So far, they’re falling short, and we hope to see a better social impact through this collab.
Nike has faced labor exploitation concerns, including failing to pay 4,000+ workers their wages after factory closures.
Both brands promote women’s empowerment, yet female garment workers are still experiencing low wages & poor conditions.
In 2020, Nike failed to pay over 4,000 garment workers in Cambodia & Thailand $2.2 million in owed wages after factory closures, despite pressure from labor advocates.
THe 2024 Fashion Accountability Report gave SKIMS a score of 0/150, exposing a complete lack of commitment to sustainability.
Sustainability isn’t just a buzzword—it requires time, science-backed targets, full transparency, and a complete operational shift.
The hype is real, but so is the responsibility. If brands want to lead culture, they need to lead with accountability.
